Mountain Adventures
Alpinism & Ski guiding company has been taking guests into
the mountains since 2000, providing safe and adventurous mountaineering
experiences during summer and winter.
Alpinism includes a variety of alpine activities:
Discover and enjoy the true and pure wilderness of the Southern
Alps, be it on a gentle sightseeing excursion and easy walk or an
alpine trip to roam around the glacier world. From half a day in
the Wanaka area to a week of mountaineering adventures which may
include a visit to the longest glacier of the country.
We can offer you a combination of many fine moments, from simply
enjoying the views of mountains and glaciers to guided alpine climbing
trips. Our boutique guiding enterprise endeavors to get for you
maximum satisfaction on each alpinism adventure.
At the Alpinism & Ski base, our guests have the possibility
of a home stay before and after alpinism trips. Also available is
the option of an independent holiday
studio, to enjoy Wanaka and its alpine environment at your own
pace.
Alpinism and Ski at present offer three alpine trekking trips:
- Copeland Pass crossing - hike over the Main Divide of the Southern
Alps. This alpine traverse goes from Mt Cook village to the rain
forest of the West coast.
- Aspiring adventure - a trip involving a helicopter flight, staying
in alpine and valley huts, glacier hiking with stunning views
of Mt Aspiring and surrounding peaks.
- NZ Alpine Glaciers adventure - helicopter into an alpine hut
situated amongst the grandeur of Mt Cook and Westland National
parks. Traverse glaciers and experience the alpine world with
stunning views of NZ's highest peaks.
These trips require reasonable fitness and a solid tramping/hiking

us about the trip and we can advise if we can guide you on such
an adventure.
Guided hiking, walks, tramping, fauna & flora, bird watching,
wilderness experience trekking and/or discovering the high country
of a local farm - all with an interpretation of local historical,

Alps of New Zealand (Sept-May) or in the Swiss, French and Italian
Alps (July/August). Be it late winter and spring for ski touring,
back country snow boarding, winter mountaineering, avalanche courses

instruction course and ascent of your special peak.
