About our Private Mountaineering Instruction Program

It is our specialty to personalize and tailor make a private mountaineering instruction course to suit your previous experience as well as current wishes and requirements, either for yourself or for your group. Commonly we use the Intro or Total Alpinism course structures as a platform to customize from, however on a private instruction course, the flexibility is there to combine teaching and guided ascent(s), a Pure Alpinism experience according to your special aspirations.

In this private tuition forum you can efficiently and quickly learn/improve your knowledge about the latest mountaineering, rock and ice climbing techniques. Build your skills safely on one of Alpinism & Ski's private mountaineering courses with one of our leading edge alpine mountain guide instructors.

The where and how of our private mountaineering instruction courses

Typical venues are: Franz Josef/Fox glacier neves in Westland National Park; Murcheson and Tasman Glacier areas in Mt Cook National Park.

We also use Plateau hut (Mt Cook-Aoraki region); Bonar glacier area and Mt Brewster (Haast Pass region) in Mt Aspiring National Park; and often use the Remarkables (Queenstown region).

A private mountaineering instruction course is ideal to hone your technical skills to attempt the huge array of peaks of New Zealand's Southern Alps and/or the greater ranges of the world; check out our Swiss mountaineering course. It can be geared towards snow and ice or alpine rock climbing or a combination of all: this is the beauty of a customized private mountaineering course.

From introductory to advanced, if you specifically know what you want - or even if you don't - get in touch and we'll do our very best to build the perfect mountaineering course for your needs.

Private Instruction Clients say

'We both had a fantastic trip, thank you so much for your time and for making us feel welcome.
As Stuart has said, we had 2 fantastic climbs on the Grand Traverse at the Remarkables, and Mt Brewster. Andy's training was invaluable as we pitched up the perilous, steep summit of Brewster (except for crevasse rescue techniques, which thankfully we didn't need to use!). It was an inspirational experience that I'll never forget- and will seek to revive when we return for Aspiring!!!' January 2010 Richard Smith & Stuart Keynes, Australia

'Thank you for your wonderful hospitality and friendship. In spite of unfavorable weather I have had many unforgettable adventures under your expert guidance. I look forward to climbing with you again in the future.' Doug Ball, New Plymouth, NZ
